Disjoi∩t is an exploration of the weight and dislocation of its formalelements. The woodenchamber begins with a grid latticeframeand a solid figure that is inset. The frame is gradually removed until the figure within is magnified and becomes lifted through onlyafewcontact points. The frame gives up some of its regularity as it grows and wraps around the figure. Eventually, it becomes unclear which beams, faces, or edgesare supporting the others. Void space cuts through the chamber, taking away perpendicular supports from some areas entirely. The contact of the frame with the ground is also reduced to challenge the weight-bearing capacity of the modular assembly method. The frame extends into the solid at points and integrates with the solidfigure’s owninternal structural network. The frame and figure, first conceptualized as disjoint elements, are assembled to becomea structurally codependent unity. The blue color progression blends structural edges andshifts thesystem’svisual concentration. The frame and solid are engaged in an intense structural relationshipthat works with areas of void andcolor to producea dynamic and disquieted reading.
