PROJECT STATEMENT

The main concept from the art piece called The Prisons, this artwork done by Italian artist Giovanni Piranesi in the 18th century, which depicts enormous subterranean vaults with stairs and mighty machines. The art piece that reflects a singular combination of imagination and a deep understanding of construction. The paintings reveal a range of depth giving a sense of endless and abyssal, we extract the idea of infinity into the project. Furthermore, we utilized the twisted log cabin as the volume of inner mass to extend from that infinity concept, as its spiral into the boxes drew people’s attention to give the feeling of extension and depth. Four boxes represent each of our previous projects. The colors also extract from that. The outstretched pipes act as structural frames to guide people's eyes into the boxes. The end of the pipes cut out by the boundary having the vertical straight notches for people easily getting to access the inside. For the assembly process, we are gonna use 1" pipe as frames, using wood connections to attach them. For those having three or multi intersections, we will be using 3d printing the connection or purchasing plastic pipe fitting from the hardware store to attach them. We attempt to build a two-layer base, leaving sufficient clearance between the two layers so that the pipe is inserted vertically and can sit stably on the ground.
