This project is an investigation of life after death. While death is widely considered as a negative experience, many cultures such as ancient Egypt or China believed it was a prolongation of life. This project explores these two outlooks into the idea of death. The exterior, with its dark and gloomy figures, represents the generally agreed upon notion of death, while the interior gives you a peek into the other more optimistic view.

The dark monolithic form provides a canvas for the different souls (represented by the colorful shapes) slowly being sucked into the afterlife. Each of these souls are to depict the objects created in the previous project by each student. The colors and shapes of these souls take reference from the vibrant artworks of Jessie and Katey.

The project will be constructed with foam, wood and masonite to allow for the cantilevering form. The structure will primarily be held up by a wooden ribbed framework giving it both stability and strength.
